Akayame: The begining~ by Pikochan

"!!?" A young girl jumped up gasping for air, finding their head in smoke clouds. The smoke burning her eyes, she ducked back down and quickly began rubbing them.
"Mom? Dad?" She called out, with no response given at all. This isn't the first time, usually they're both asleep in their room and she would have to get out of bed and run down the hall to get into theirs in the event of a nightmare.
She ran to her door, and grasped the handle, only to release it just as fast. It was very hot. With no where else to go, she opened the window, leaning outside to get a breath of fresh air. A move she probably shouldn't have made.
Outside bright orange flames towered into the sky tapering off into black clouds of smoke. On the ground were figures that could only be described as shadows running away from other shadows.
"Mommy?! Daddy?!" she desperately called out. Once again, she received no response other than the overpowering roar of flames and some clashing metal. She leaned heavily against the wall to look farther out, but her weight was too much for the brittle wood, and it collapsed, dropping her two stories into some burnt bushes.
The force of the fall against her frail arm made a popping sound. The pain spread through her arm like cold electric fingers, and she realised she was cut in various places by the bush she had fallen into.

Poor girl, it seemed only a moment ago she was in bed, dreaming of the night sky and counting the stars. Aching to return to that dream, she turned her attention to the sky.
Much to her dismay, the sky was completely black. Not a single star could be seen nor the two moons which gaze upon Erinn. They were obscured by the smoke. The synthetic darkness created by the flames.
"Make it... stop..." Her heart broke as she cried out to the wretched darkness. "Make it... stop...!" Nobody heard her wish. Neither her father or mother answered. There was no brave knight from any of the tales they had told her. "Make it stop!!" There was no helping it, the darkness had claimed victory. "MAKE IT STOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!!"

I opened my eyes to see the stars shining above with the two moons floating like the eyes of a great bird. I felt something hot roll down my face.
A tear.
What an awful dream... If there's a goddess out there, why do you make me relive this nightmare?
